Summer entertainment Hots up as Larks in the Parks is Re-launched

Whatever the weather, it promises to be a scorcher for children's entertainment in local parks this summer.

For a bumper programme of activities titled "Larks in the Parks" and geared to youngsters under ten, will provide a hot time for visitors to Council-run parks across the Borough of Richmond during the school holidays.

The re-launched "Larks in the Parks" event is organised by the Arts Section of Richmond Council with the support of local business Pepsi Cola. A packed programme of performances and workshops will take place at parks in Twickenham, Sheen, Hampton, St Margaret's and Barnes.

The action will get under way on Tuesday 29th July (2pm) at Orleans House Gallery, Riverside,Twickenham, with a thrilling performance in prospect by the children's theatre group Krazy Kat.

"Larks in the Parks" will feature four top touring theatre shows for children and also include an exciting day of circus skills workshops for younger people.

Whitton Lib Dem Councillor, Gina MacKinney said; "I am delighted that the Council has relaunched "Larks in the Park".

"Richmond is a wonderful borough and these entertainments should attract more people into our lovely parks."

Rachel Tranter, the Borough's Head of Arts, echoed this view, and said: "Our parks are among the capital's absolute gems, and we hope families will make a beeline for this event and enjoy entertainment in some of the most beautiful surroundings in London."

"Larks In The Parks" runs from 29th July until 20th August.

Tickets per event, which must be booked in advance, are £3 per child, with free admission for parents and carers. Leisure Card holders can obtain tickets for children at £2.50 each.
