During todays Board meeting at TFL, Ian Brown, Managing Director of rail services for TFL agreed to the necessity for a survey of Richmond and Kingston commuters' travel needs in regard to the Crossrail project.

He also promised that closing the Richmond branch of the District Line is only a benchmark plan, and in no way represents a final decision.

Susan Kramer, prospective parliamentary candidate for Richmond Park, welcomed the statement and said; "I am pleased that Ian Brown has recognized the need for a proper survey of commuter needs. I am adamant that the Crossrail project needs to be in addition to, not instead of the District Line, and it is reassuring to hear that the plan to remove the Richmond branch of the District Line is in no way a final decision."
