Chalker's Corner Blow12.00.00am GMT Mon 10th Nov 2003 Jenny Tonge, Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park, expressed her deep concern that promised improvements to Chalker's Corner, on the South Circular Road in Mortlake have been postponed. The MP said: "This is a real blow - there is no safe place to cross Clifford Avenue and one-third of the crossing is not governed by pedestrian signals at all." "Transport for London promised to do the work, but now - apparently because of budget cuts - they have put it off until the next financial year. So now we have another long, dark winter with school children having to take their lives in their hands every time they cross the road." "It's not even certain the money will be found then - my constituents have been told it is "subject to confirmation." "I have asked Susan Kramer, who is on the Board of Transport for London to take this up for me as a matter of urgency."
