State-of-the-art plans for Teddington School unveiled

Exciting new designs for the £30m rebuild of Teddington School have been unveiled by Richmond Council.

The Broom Road school is being redeveloped under the government's Building Schools for the Future programme, with £24m of government funding and an additional £6m investment from the Council's reserves. The latest architectural drawings, from design team BDP, which education heads say are 95 per cent complete, illustrate the transformation with a new state-of-the-art building, and reconfigured sports pitches and facilities. Detailed design work is ongoing but the project is on a tight schedule with a planning application due to be submitted in early September.

Cllr Stephen Knight, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources, said:??"Driving up standards in our secondary schools is one of the key priorities for this Council. Capital investment programmes such as this are a major part of the process. The updated plans for Teddington School are stunning and, subject to planning approval, will produce a cutting edge educational facility that will bring huge benefits to the whole community. The Council is investing around £6m to cover a projected funding shortfall from the government and make this project happen. We will continue to consult with local residents to ensure the redevelopment causes the minimum impact to neighbours, in particular we are working hard to minimise the impact of the development on the closest neighbours in Melbourne Road."
