Focus on cycle safety

Richmond Council is urging cyclists of all ages to take advantage of its road safety training courses.

The Council's Safety Education Team trains thousands of child and adult cyclists every year, equipping them with the skills and confidence to cycle safety on the borough's roads. Safety courses for children will take place throughout the summer, and are free of charge. They are held on quiet, risk-assessed roads at various locations around the borough. The next course for adults starts on Tuesday September 4, at 6.30pm in Twickenham. It consists of four one-and-a-half hour evening sessions and costs £20.

The Council's Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking, Cllr David Trigg, said: "This Council is doing everything it can to encourage sustainable forms of transport and especially cycling. These excellent courses give cyclists the confidence and skills to navigate the borough's roads and I urge anyone making the switch to two wheels to sign up."
