Fund-raising events proved a real money-spinner for the two charities supported by last year's Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Cllr Bill Treble, during his year of office.

Nearly £15,000 was raised in total in 2006-07, which will be split between the Shooting Star Children's Hospice and Barnfield Riding for the Disabled.

Cllr Treble said: "I would like to thank everyone, both individuals and organisations, who donated to these charities during my Mayoral year, making it such a great success for two very worthy causes."
