Top score for Housing Services

12.14.13pm GMT Thu 6th Mar 2008

• THE Audit Commission has delivered a positive verdict on the Council's housing services, scoring a maximum 4 out of 4 for the first time.

The borough was the only one in South West London awarded the top rating for its housing service in the recent Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA). Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing, Cllr Denise Carr, said:

"We are absolutely delighted. This is an excellent result and recognition of the staff who work hard to ensure we keep improving the services we provide for local people. Our key priorities include providing more affordable homes and continuing to combat homelessness by reducing the numbers in temporary accommodation. We will never be complacent and our aim, as always, is to keep raising standards. There are now a number of services where the Council is achieving the maximum score, and the rating for housing is certainly another feather in our cap."
