Fly-tipping success for Richmond Council

• RICHMOND Council's fly-tipping removal services have scored highly amongst in a resident satisfaction survey.

According to two surveys, carried out by the Council's Corporate Customer Services in June, over 90% of customers who had reported incidents were very satisfied with the way their enquiry was handled, with one third of respondents considering the services excellent. Amongst those surveyed, 74% were satisfied with the time it took to remove the waste, which the Council has pledged to keep to a maximum of 5 working days from the time of receiving the report. The two surveys measured customer satisfaction on recent reported fly tipping incidents, from dealing reporting to resolution.

Cllr Martin Elengorn, Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "We are very satisfied with the results of our research. The surveys were also an invaluable tool to highlight areas for improvement, which we are now working on. Fly-tipping of waste is a serious criminal offence that represents a threat to humans and wildlife. It damages the environment and spoils our enjoyment of local areas. It also affects property prices and local businesses. The cost of investigating and clearing up fly-tipping falls on taxpayers' pockets so we urge residents to keep reporting incidents to the police or by contacting the Council's Environmental Hotline."
