Airtrack Consultation Starts With No Exhibition In Richmond

• ON October 20, "Heathrow Airtrack", sponsored by the British Airports Authority (BAA), started a consultation on the project with no exhibition venue in Richmond or Twickenham.

The project would keep the 4 level crossing barriers in Richmond, Sheen, Mortlake and Barnes down for 45 minutes in the hour at peak times. Susan Kramer, MP for Richmond Park said: "BAA still does not recognise the impact on our area. About a third of my constituency would be effectively shut-in between the river and the railway line. I have requested the urgent arrangement of exhibition venues in our area because of the way it will be affected. Thanks to a meeting I have had with BAA's CEO, the consultation will be extended beyond its original date in recognition of the Christmas holiday. It is crucial that local people make their views heard. I am still seeking a meeting with Ministers who seem oblivious to the implications."
